
The CVMC was instrumental in getting the speed limit lowered from 55 to 45 in the Route 20 Mill road area.
CONTRIBUTIONS TO DATE
The Cherry Valley Men’s Club teamed up Santa Claus [Larry Young], Andy Gannon [channel 23], and 150 special olympic athletes for a holiday luncheon at Franchescos. Pasta, salad, pizza, cookies, and beverages were donated by Benny from Franchescos and The Cherry Valley Men’s club were the servers. Every athlete got a present from Santa Claus and Andy led the way as we all sang Christmas Carols. Special thanks to Larry Young, Dan Manning and Franchescos.

Petition was signed and approved to lower the speed limit to 45 mph at the intersection of Mill Road and U.S. Route 20 (Ulysses S Grant Memorial Highway).
“Love Your River” themed signs were put along the Kishwaukee River
Rules of the river signs were put in four area forest preserves. We worked with the forest preserve lawyers on the project. The signs are intended to make a trip down the river safer and cleaner. Signs were installed by Dave Doig and Scott Cain.
Frisbees (600) and candy have been donated and tossed into the crowd during the July 4th parade through CV for the last five years.
Robert Larson Academic Scholarships Foundation has given college scholarships ($500 each) to 10 students each year.
Baseball uniform donations were given to the Cherry Valley Merchants team.

CVMC, Nancy Belt, and Alpine Bank held a business attire clothing drive, canned food drive, and paper shredding event.
Basketball tryout camp scholarships were given to CV grade school girls and boys basketball players.
CVMC made a $500 donation, Cream City Scales made a $1,000 donation, Cain & Company a $500 donation, and the three Backyard Grill & Bar locations raised $525 for full uniforms and jackets for 65 Goldie Floberg Special Olympics athletes and their 10 coaches. Printing and embroidering were donated by C & E Specialties.
CVMC made a generous donation for Christmas lights in 2012. Lights were installed by CVMC member Dave Doig.
CVMC produced a 2015 calendar featuring photos from CV. Marie Tovo and the late Mike Donze donated all the photos. Cain & Company designed and produced the artwork. Printing was produced by club member Dave Mays. 500 were sold and 500 donated. The calendar sales raised $4,500.
